Mamie Dixon, Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher (R.Y.T.) is a
professor of yoga at East Carolina University as well as the
founder of the Greenville Yoga Studio in Greenville, NC.
Ms. Dixon trained at the Kripalu Center in Lenox, MA, which is
affectionately known as the "Harvard of Yoga" throughout America.
The Kripalu method is a highly devotional practice with emphsis on
breathwork, meditation, moving slowly in and out of postures as
well as holding the postures for extended periods of time. Because
she has trained all over the world, Ms. Dixon incorporates
techniques from many different yoga traditions--in fact she refers
to her practice as Yoga Fusion.
As a trained meditation instructor and Kundalini practicioner, Ms.
Dixon is qualified to teach on a very in-depth level. "I found my
way to the physical practice of yoga by way of meditation," says
Ms. Dixon, "I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to
study with the direct disciples of the Transcedental Meditation
Method when it was first brought to America in the late 60's -
early 70's. The physical practice of yoga serves to deepen the
practice of meditation.
Ms. Dixon has helped many students, from beginners to advanced
practitioners, develop an outstanding yoga practice. She is
available for individual and class instruction, as well as
workshop and training clinics. |
